How we handle your data

FilKlar is built around a simple principle: your files are yours, and they should stay on your machine. All processing happens locally in the browser via JavaScript and WebAssembly. We don’t upload anything to our servers, and we don’t send any file data to third parties.

This means we technically never have access to what you do with our tools. We can’t see the contents of your PDFs, images, or other files you process. This isn’t a feature added on top — it’s the very architecture.

Local processing in practice

When you select a file in a FilKlar tool, your browser reads the file from your disk via the File API. The file content is processed in the browser’s memory, and the result is downloaded to your machine. In practice, this means:

• ●Your files never leave your computer
• ●We can’t see, read, or store your files
• ●No data is written to any server — ours or anyone else’s
• ●When you close the tab, all data is wiped from memory

Cookies, analytics, and tracking

FilKlar does not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. We collect minimal, anonymized usage statistics to understand which tools are used and how they perform.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar third-party tracking tools. Any analytics we run are privacy-filtered and designed to be as non-invasive as possible.

Third parties

Since your files are never uploaded, no third party can access your file content through FilKlar. The website is served via standard hosting infrastructure, but file processing happens exclusively in your browser.

Your rights under GDPR

Since we don’t collect or store personal data linked to your file usage, there is very little we can share. You are welcome to contact us to request information about any data we may hold.

If you believe we have processed your data incorrectly, you have the right to file a complaint with the relevant data protection authority.
